The Election Commission of India has
announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections 2014. The elections will begin
on 7 April and end on 12 May.
16 May has been set as the counting date and
the EC will complete counting on this day.
With the final dates being
announced, the model code of conduct has also come into being in the country
from today itself. The elections will be held in 9 phases.
Below are the dates and the number of
constituences in each state that will go to poll on a particular day:
7 April: 2 states will have polls in 6
constituencies. The states are Assam, Tripura.
9 April: 5 states will have polls in 7
Parliamentary constituencies. The states are Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.
